Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey joined parliamentary candidate Max Wilkinson on a visit to the Angry Parrot micropub in Cheltenham.
Sir Ed met landlord Paul Cook to discuss the challenges of running an independent hospitality business.
The micropub stocks mostly local produce, giving it an opportunity to support local breweries.
Max said: “Listening to the business community is a key priority for me and the Liberal Democrats, so it was brilliant to hear from Paul about the Angry Parrot.
“Cheltenham’s hospitality industry is one of the things that makes this town a brilliant place to live and I’m pleased much of it has remained intact throughout the pandemic. But it’s clear a new focus will be needed as the cost of living crisis hits home – the government will need to act.”
Local Liberal Democrat councillors for All Saints ward Barbara Clark and Izaac Tailford also attended to hear more from the local business.
